Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) over the weekend announced that two global banking giants: HSBC and UBS have closed their representative offices in Nigeria.

Reacting to this development, former vice president and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate in the 2019 election, Atiku Abubakar, expressed his concern and promised to address such issues when elected to office next year.

“Always a sad day for our country when such entities pack up. FDI (Foreign Direct Investment) is a key component to economic growth. My administration will attract more FDI by making the CBN stronger and independent, banish multiple exchange rates and promote market-led economy.”
